BRIEF: 1 dead after shooting at Markham bar

March 22--One man was killed in a shooting at a bar in south suburban Markham early Sunday morning.

Police were called to the Adrianna's Sports Pub Grill, 16300 Dixie Hwy., just after 12:30 a.m. Sunday for a shooting, according to Illinois State Police and Markham police.

At least one man was killed in the incident, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. Officials later identified the man as Christopher Hooper, 26, of the 800 block of Carnation Lane in south suburban Matteson. Hooper was pronounced dead at 1:45 a.m. at Ingalls Memorial Hospital.

Investigators at the scene would not provide details surrounding the shooting early Sunday, referring questions to Markham Police Deputy Police Chief James Walker, who did not immediately return calls for comment.

Patrons said the shooting happened during a performance by hip hop artist Future. Police closed down the bar as well as a club located a couple doors down following the shooting, patrons said.
