2 dead, 3 hurt in shootings since Saturday evening

Nov. 04--Two men died and three other people were hurt in separate shootings throughout the city since Saturday evening, authorities said.

A 29-year-old man was found unresponsive after being shot around 4:47 a.m. Sunday in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Ana Pacheco. He was later identified as Andre B. Johnson, of the 6100 block of South Woodlawn Avenue, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

The man was sitting in the front passenger seat of a car in the 1500 block of West 72nd Place when an attacker walked up and shot him in the face, Pacheco said.

The attacker then fled the scene in a dark-colored SUV.

No one is in custody as a result of the shooting, Pacheco said.

A 20-year-old man died and a 19-year-old man was wounded in a shooting around 7 p.m. Saturday in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro.

The two were outside in the 6700 block of South Morgan Street when someone from another group of people fired shots, Alfaro said.

The 20-year-old was hit in the stomach and in the leg and was later pronounced dead at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital. He was identified as Rayvon Little of the 6700 block of South Morgan Street, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

The 19-year-old was shot in the leg and taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital where his condition stabilized, Alfaro said.

No one is in custody as a result of the incident, he said.

In the most recent shooting, a 21-year-old man was shot in the leg during a drive-by shooting around 12:30 a.m. in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer.

The man was walking with another man in the 3300 block of West Beach Avenue when a dark SUV pulled up and its driver fired shots, Greer said. The attacker fled the scene, driving in the eastbound direction.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where his condition stabilized, Greer said.

No one is in custody as a result of the incident.

A 23-year-old man was also wounded in a shooting around 8:05 p.m. in the Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro.

The man was shot in the right leg and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where his condition stabilized, Alfaro said.

No other details were immediately available.
