May 27--A man was killed, and a 16-year-old boy was among seven people who were wounded in shootings since Friday morning on the South, North and West sides, police said.
The fatal shooting happened about 7:30 a.m. in the 5600 block of South Wabash Avenue in the Washington Park neighborhood, Trainor said.
The victim was pronounced dead on the scene, Trainor said. Fire Department officials said the victim, a man in his 20s, was found inside an abandoned building.
About 8:10 a.m., a 24-year-old man showed up at Loretto Hospital with a gunshot wound to the foot, said Officer Nicole Trainor, a police spokeswoman. He told authorities he was shot in the 100 block of South Kilbourn Avenue in the city's West Garfield Park neighborhood.
About 1 p.m., another person was shot near Archer and California avenues in the city's Brighton Park neighborhood, police said.
According to preliminary information, a man suffered a wound to the shoulder and was taken to St. Anthony's Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, Trainor said.
A boy, 16, was found with a gunshot wound to the leg about 1:35 p.m. in the 5700 block of South Calumet Avenue in the Washington Park neighborhood, in the same area of the fatal shooting.
The boy was taken to Stroger Hospital where he was listed in good condition, said Officer Michelle Tannehill, a Chicago police spokeswoman.
Shortly after 2 p.m., a 20-year-old man was shot in the 300 block of South Hamlin Boulevard in the East Garfield Park neighborhood, Tannehill said.
According to preliminary reports, a light-colored vehicle drove up, and someone inside fired shots, striking the victim in the abdomen. He was taken in serious condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, Tannehill said.
About 2:15 p.m., another person was wounded in a shooting on the North Side in the city's Uptown neighborhood.
That shooting happened in the 4600 block of North Racine Avenue, Tannehill said.
The victims' age was not available, but Tannehill said he suffered a leg wound and was in good condition at the scene.
Fifteen minutes after the North Side attack, two men were shot in the city's Englewood neighborhood, Tannehill said.
That shooting happened in the 6700 block of South Loomis Boulevard.
One of the victims, a 39-year-old man, was shot in the chest. He was taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. The other man, 26, suffered wounds to the right leg and lower back. He was taken to Holy Cross Hospital.
