BRIEF: 1 critically injured in Gresham fire

Dec. 21--A man was hospitalized in critical condition after a fire Sunday in a bungalow on the South Side, officials said.

The fire was reported in a home on the 7700 block of South Champlain Avenue in the Gresham neighborhood, according to the Chicago Fire Department.

The fire began about 4:30 p.m. in the 1-1/2-story brick home, officials said.

The victim, whose age was not immediately available, was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition, officials said. The office of fire investigations was looking into the fire, according to the department.
