BRIEF: 1 arrested after shots fired at police on West Side

March 23--One person was in custody after someone fired shots at police in the West Garfield Park neighborhood, hitting a police car but leaving officers uninjured, authorities said.

Police News Affairs could only confirm that one person was being questioned following police activity about 5:45 p.m. bear 4100 W. West End Ave., said Officer Kevin Quaid, a police spokesman.

A .380-caliber handgun was taken into evidence by police after seven shots were fired at officers, with two hitting a police car, a source said. No officers were injured by gunfire.
