BRIEF: $1,000 reward offered in arrest of 'Mug Shot Bandit'

Dec. 19--The FBI is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of a serial bank robber dubbed the "Mug Shot Bandit."

FBI officials said Friday that the robber is suspected in at least four bank heists in the south and southwest suburbs. In each robbery, the bandit's face was clearly captured in photos taken from surveillance video, the FBI said.

The bandit's spree began Nov. 19 at a TCF Bank branch at 17117 S. Harlem Ave. in Tinley Park. He entered the bank, demanded money from a teller, then fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The FBI believes he robbed the Old Second National Bank in Chicago Heights on Nov. 20, another TCF Bank branch in Chicago Heights on Dec. 4, and a Fifth Third Bank in Lockport on Dec. 17, the FBI said.

Anyone with information can contact the FBI Chicago office at 312-421-6700.
