Bridget Fonda's husband Danny Elfman's changing looks and tattooed torso

Danny Elfman has certainly been embracing his wild side - swapping classic suits and glasses for wild hair and plenty of tattoos.

Bridget Fonda's husband has overhauled his look since their days of posing up on the red carpet together.

Bridget was seen this week for the first time in 12 years after she decided to give up the fame game.

But Danny has remained very much in the spotlight and continues to enjoy his musical career.

The 68-year-old is a well-known composer who famously created the scores for 16 of Tim Burton's movies, including Batman, Edward Scissorhands and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

His music has also been heard in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man movies, the Men In Black and Fifty Shades of Grey franchises, and of course, he penned the theme tunes for hit TV shows The Simpsons and Desperate Housewives.

While his time composing keeps him mainly behind the scenes, Danny also loves being in the limelight as singer-songwriter of new wave band Oingo Boingo.

He regularly takes to his Instagram account to share snapshots of himself wowing crowds on stage with his band, who are due to perform at the next Coachella festival.

Danny has changed his look a lot over the years, going from being seen in conservative suits and spectacles while posing next to Bridget on the red carpet to letting his red hair grow long and rolling up his sleeves to reveal his many tattoos.

Smiley Danny often posts pictures of his ginger locks hanging loose in a middle parting.

Last year, he shared a snap of his topless torso that revealed he was covered in tattoos, with inkings including skeletons and a dog's face.

Danny and Bridget, 58, were red carpet regulars before she stepped out of the limelight for a simpler life at home with her husband and son Oliver, now 17.

They were last pictured together at the premiere of Quentin Tarantino's Inglorious Basterds in 2009, which coincidentally became Bridget's final public appearance.

Oliver was pictured with his dad and his half-sister Mali Elfman - Danny's daughter from a previous relationship - at the 2016 premiere of Alice Through The Looking Glass, although Bridget didn't go along.

These days, the family lives in the upscale Encino suburb of Los Angeles, where their famous neighbours include Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra, Gwen Stefani and Selena Gomez.

Bridget was born into a very famous family - the granddaughter of Henry Fonda, daughter of Peter Fonda, and niece of Jane Fonda.

She happily gave up fame, and previously explained that she often questioned her right to be part of an inner circle of movie greats.

She struggled with her self-confidence and the pressure she felt was put on her as part of a huge celebrity dynasty.

She told Movieline back in 1993: "I wonder what kind of satisfaction I would have with where I am now if I wasn’t part of a family that has done such phenomenal work.

"I wonder what it would feel like to know that you’ve made it completely under your own steam. I sometimes wonder if I would be more at peace if I could know I made it by myself, instead of always wondering how many times my name got me in the door."

She quit Hollywood in 2003, and at the time there were unconfirmed reports that she'd been struggling after a bad car accident left her with back injuries.

It was thought that the accident as well as the birth of her son one year later convinced her to retire from the industry and settle into a quieter life.
