Bridgerton star Regé-Jean Page has described which scenes in the hit Netflix period drama were the most difficult to film.

Since its release on the streaming service on Christmas Day, Bridgerton has become a fast hit with viewers.

While some fans might assume that Bridgerton’s explicit sex scenes would have been the most taxing to film, Page revealed that it was in fact the subtler scenes moments which caused the most consternation.

“The hardest moments are the very, very subtle barbs and hurts over the dinner table,” he revealed in an interview with Netflix Queue

“When someone says something that you don’t get to blow up about, that you don’t get to cry about, you just have to take that sting right in the ribcage and express that through a flick of an eyebrow or through the way that you cut your peas.”

In the series, Page plays Duke of Hastings Simon Basset, who is one of the country’s most eligible bachelors.

In the same interview, he recalled a scene in which Simon eats dinner with the Bridgerton family for the first time.

“I really don’t want to be there, but you can’t say that,” said the actor. "The kids are there and they’re all happy and playing and being accepted in exactly the warm and loving family that Simon never had.

“And that is never explicitly mentioned in the script in that moment. No one’s going to say it. But it is the biggest thing about that scene for him. Inhabiting that space is the most challenging but also the most gratifying part.”

Bridgerton is available to stream on Netflix.
