Bridgerton star Regé-Jean Page leans into ‘extremely hot sex man’ role on Saturday Night Live

Bridgerton star Regé-Jean Page has made his hosting debut on Saturday Night Live.

“You probably recognize me from Bridgerton, the show that made everyone turn to their moms and say, 'You know what? Never mind, I don't think we should watch this together,’” Page said in his opening monologue, referencing the show’s graphic sex scenes.

“It's a bit of a racy show,” Page acknowledged. “And because of that, people may associate me being this smoldering, sexual smoke show. But I assure you, I'm just a regular guy.” Then, he turned to a separate camera to say, “I'm here to show you a good time and explore each other. Does that sound fun to you?”

Page was then joined by a few “personal liaisons”, aka cast members Aidy Bryant, Ego Nwodim, and Chloe Fineman, who came dressed as Page’s onscreen love interest, Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor).

“Ladies, I hate to break it to you but I'm actually kind of a nerd. I nerd out on music, I sing silly little songs,” Page said before singing a rendition of “Oh My Love”.

“It’s cool, we definitely have other sketch ideas where you aren’t just being an extremely hot sex man,” said Bryant. “No, we’re screwed. Get pencils, bitches, ’cause we’re rewriting everything!”

Later, Page appeared in a Bridgerton parody sketch, where Fineman dressed up as Daphne again. After saying his trademark line (“I burn for you, Daphne”), fellow cast member Kate McKinnon called, “Cut!” and set up the next scene, which called for “nudity and simulated intercourse”.

The sketch went on to joke about how Bridgerton’s usual intimacy coordinator “had Covid exposure”, so Mikey Day would be the replacement (with his nephew and assistant in tow, played by, Pete Davidson).

From there, Day and Davidson, as “replacement” intimacy coordinators, suggested new dialogue options for the Duke and Daphne’s now-famous Bridgerton sex scenes.

Bridgerton is currently streaming on Netflix.
