Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan drops exciting filming hint for season 2

Nicola Coughlan has teased that production for season 2 of Bridgerton is happening 'soon.'

The actress who plays Penelope Featherington in the racy Netflix drama, shut down rumours that filming had already started but did drop some crucial hints that things are getting underway.

"Wigs and dresses yet to be made but soon!" she added.

The colourful costumes and elaborate Regency wigs were a huge part of the first series of the show that charted the love story between Daphne Bridgerton and the Duke of Hastings.

However, the couple - who proved to be a huge hit with viewers - will not be the focus of the upcoming episodes, which will instead centre on Daphne's single older brother Anthony.

"Anthony is going to have a love interest and it's going to be as sweeping and as beautiful as viewers have come to expect from the show," creator Chris Van Dusen has teased.

The episodes will closely follow The Viscount Who Love Me, the second book in the Julia Quinn’s series.

Viewers can expect to see Anthony fall in love with a fiery woman named Kate Sharma, who will be played by Simone Ashley in the Netflix show.

However, before filming can begin costume and set designers will be hard at work preparing the lavish sets fns have come to expect.

A total of 7,500 pieces of costume were made for series one alone.

"Everything you see is bespoke. Everything is made for the show and nothing comes from a costume house.”

Phoebe Dynevor who played Daphne admitted: "I’m in a different outfit every scene, basically. We counted and I have 104 dresses, which is just madness."

Bridgerton series 2 was confirmed earlier this year by Netflix after the show became the most-watched series on the streaming platform, reaching 82 million households.
