Bridgerton season 2: Anthony spoiler teased in final episode of Netflix show

The first season of Bridgerton peppered in spoilers for what’s to come in season two.

While a follow-up is yet to be officially announced by Netflix, the period drama is expected to return, having been a huge hit for the streaming service over the Christmas period.

Viewers wondering what’s to come in a second season, though, should look no further than a small detail featured in the finale.

The last episode of the show’s first season shows a camera lingering on a bee, in an echo of a similar shot from the very first episode that shows a bee on the door-knocker for the Bridgerton family home.

As the series is based on books of the same name by Julia Quinn, readers will know that a bee is responsible for the death of the Bridgerton patriarch, who died from anaphylactic shock after being stung.

It’s this incident that provides context behind the behaviour of Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey), the controlling bachelor brother of Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor).

This bee is an Easter egg for ‘Bridgerton’ season two (Netflix)

The reason behind Anthony’s closed-off exterior is not explored in the first season, but it’s no stretch to assume it will be the main focus of the next run, which is expected to adapt Quinn’s The Viscount Who Loved Me.

Bridgerton is available to stream on Netflix now.
