Bridgerton's Regé-Jean Page and Tom Hardy to read CBeebies bedtime stories - and mums are ecstatic

Mums across the country are in for a special treat with Bridgerton heart-throb Regé-Jean Page reading a bedtime story to children on Mother's Day.

The actor, who has gained widespread popularity through the Netflix series, is to read a CBeebies Bedtime Story on Sunday.

This will be followed by stories in the same week from actor Tom Hardy, singer Rag‘n’Bone Man and actress Felicity Jones.

And mums cannot wait for the stars to hit the screen, with scores eagerly awaiting 'The Duke' Regé-Jean Page's debut on the channel.

One said on the CBeebies Facebook page: "Oh my God CBeebies, the duke! Thank you, thank you very much."

Another mum added: "To the person who chooses the story tellers! I love you."

One post read: "What a Mother's Day treat," while another said: "Bedtime stories never been so appealing."

And one woman wrote: "Can I watch without my child?"

Regé-Jean will read Rain Before Rainbows by Smriti Halls and David Litchfield about a girl and her companion fox who travel together from a place of loss and despair, through uncertain times, towards the hope of colour, light and life.

Rege’s story will air on Sunday, followed the next day by a tale from Rag‘n’Bone Man, who will be reading My Dad Used to be So Cool by Keith Negley, a funny and relatable story about a dad who was in a band but who is no longer the cool guy he once was.

Then on Tuesday, March 16, actress Felicity Jones will read The Huffalots by Eve Coy. Here a mum wakes up her Huffalots to find they are grumpy. Eventually, with the help of a big cuddle, they become Lovealots.

Felicity tells the audience: “Now, I’ll tell you a secret. Lots of us grown-ups can feel ourselves turning into Huffalots as the day goes on. But luckily we’ve got our Lovealots to cheer us up……remember, a Huffalot can always become a Lovelot, with a little bit of help.”

Thursday will see the return of Inception and The Dark Knight Rises star Tom Hardy, who will read Somebody Swallowed Stanley by Sarah Roberts and Hannah Peck, a story about the eventful journey made by a jellyfish.

At the end of the story Tom surmises: "If one person can save a turtle, just imagine what we can all do when we work together. We can overcome diseases, invent amazing new things and make the world a better place by helping animals, and helping each other."

CBeebies Bedtime Stories is on daily at 6.50pm.
