Bridgerton's Nicola Coughlan reveals she accidentally stabbed co-star on first day of filming

Nicola Coughlan has revealed a series of disasters from her first day of filming Bridgerton.

The Irish actress plays Penelope Fetherington in the Netflix hit that has been driving viewers wild since it landed on the streaming service in December.

Nicola, 34, appeared on Tuesday's This Morning to chat to hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield about the huge success of the new series.

But the Derry Girls star revealed she fell over THREE times and accidentally stabbed co-star on first day of filming.

"It was evident pretty quickly on my first day that I couldn’t walk in these heels," Nicola explained after initially telling the show bosses she'd be fine.

"So I was walking along during a scene and then all of a sudden with my corset and everything I had no sort of central strength so I completely toppled over and landed on the ground.

"I got up and was like 'That'll never happen again' and it happened twice more. I fell over three times.

"The third time I was carrying a parasol, which you know held in the wrong hands is a deadly weapon. I fell forward really quickly and I stabbed Claudia Jessie in the hand and it drew blood."

She added: "That was my first day, that was Eloise, yes I stabbed her.

"But, she forgave me we are still friends."

Netflix announced recently that Bridgerton had reached more than 63 million households in less than a month since its premier.

The raunchy period drama follows the Bridgerton family including Daphne, played by Phoebe Dynevor, as a debutante in Regency London who marries the Duke of Hastings, played by Rege-Jean Page.
