Bridgerton production update after Covid scare shut down Netflix set

Bridgerton's season two is back on track today after filming was halted for 24 hours after a crew member tested positive for Covid.

The Netflix period drama is currently in the middle of production on its second season which is filming in the UK.

However, filming on the show was paused following the detection of a positive Covid-19 case within the production team.

Following the detection of a positive Covid-19 case within the crew on the production of Bridgerton, it was reported that filming was immediately paused to allow for an isolated round of testing of everyone involved in the series.

All Covid-19 health and safety protocols were followed and the person has been isolated.

It comes after Bridgerton’s first season bagged 12 Emmy nominations earlier this week.

The Shondaland-produced show is in the running for outstanding drama series, and Regé-Jean Page, who plays heartthrob Simon Basset on the debut season, scored the cast's only acting nod in the outstanding lead actor in a drama series category.

Adapted from Julia Quinn's best-selling romance novels, it is also nominated in the following categories: outstanding cinematography, outstanding period costumes, outstanding directing for a drama series, outstanding music composition, outstanding character voice-over performance, and more.

Sadly, Page has already been confirmed to not be returning for the second run despite on-screen wife Phoebe Dynevor returning as Daphne Bridgerton.

The new series will be fronted instead by a returning Jonathan Bailey as Daphne’s brother Anthony, Viscount Bridgerton.

Bridgerton season one is available now on Netflix, with season two coming soon.
