Bridgerton cut 'quite a few' intimate scenes from season two of Netflix show

Bridgerton's intimacy coordinator has revealed multiple intimate scenes were cut from the second season.

The Netflix show's intimacy coordinator Lizzy Talbot has opened up about the recent series of the hit show, which stars Jonathan Bailey as Anthony, Viscount Bridgerton and Simone Ashley as Kate Sharma, in the lead roles as Anthony searches for a wife.

Lizzy explained how a lot of scenes she was involved in didn't make it, as she commented on viewers' frustrations that there had been a lack of sex scenes in the more recent series compared to the first one, which starred Rege-Jean Page and Phoebe Dynevor.

Asked if there were any moments she was involved in that were cut this season, she told Glamour: "Yeah, there's always quite a few. It was the same in season one. There were loads of scenes that didn't make it.

"We always do more than we need to so there are many options in the edit. I think that that's a really important thing. I know people have been frustrated that there haven't been more [sex scenes], but part of it is that we want to give our absolute best."

As part of her role, Lizzy is also involved in other intimate scenes.

"We're not just there for scenes of simulated sex. Our role is so much broader than that. We're there for kissing scenes. We're there for birthing scenes. We're there for bathing scenes," she explained of her role.

"Anytime an actor is in a vulnerable position or we're portraying intimacy, whether that's platonic or romantic, that's what our job requires. So much of the intimacy isn't about penetrative sex."

Lead actor Jonathan Bailey previously revealed how he got into shape for the intimate scenes.

"Stepping into the shoes that Phoebe Dynevor [who returns as Daphne] and Rege-Jean Page wore and led with so gracefully last season has taught me a lot," he explained, "Taking on that responsibility has been amazing for so many reasons.

"This season required a lot of staying calm and steady and ready. It’s kept me on my toes. I got really fit, I made sure to eat well and get loads of sleep, and everything else just seemed to fall into place."
