Bridgerton author urges Netflix to add more Daphne and the Duke scenes to series 2

Bridgerton is known as much for its sex scenes as its gripping storylines and fabulous Regency costumes.

Now, the author of the books which inspired the hit Netflix show has urged producers to include even more racy moments in the upcoming second season.

Julia Quinn, who also acts a consultant on the hit show, side-lined Daphne Bridgerton and the Duke of Hastings in her later books, but she wants Netflix bosses to go rewrite the plots so that the couple feature more in future seasons.

Despite her second book The Viscount Who Loved Me focusing on Jonathan Bailey's character Anthony, Daphne's brother, she is hoping Daphne and the Duke play a big role in the show's future.

Julia told The Sun: "I hope so. They do show up in the book.

"The series doesn't follow the book word for word - and I don't think [it] should.

"So I hope so, for no other reason than Daphne has the right to interfere with Anthony's life. To deny her that chance would be criminal. I think it would be lovely to see."

Julia also teased what will happen in the next series.

She added: "Anthony is going to get it bad. Jonathan Bailey played him so well; you still love him, but he needs to be taken down a peg, and he is going to be taken down so many pegs. It's awesome."

Daphne is played by Phoebe Dynevor, the daughter of Coronation Street star Sally Dynevor.

Most of the first series of Bridgerton follows the budding romance between Daphne and The Duke, played by Regé-Jean Page.

When they marry the couple have numerous sex scenes, which Phoebe said she couldn't watch with her famous mum.
