Bridgeport package thieves strike 3 times in 1 day: police

Police are warning Bridgeport residents after three package thefts were reported Monday.

Someone stole packages from residential areas during afternoon and evening hours, Chicago police said in an alert.

A theft happened between 4:10 and 6:55 p.m. in the 3800 block of South Emerald Avenue, police said.

Two other thefts were reported a block apart from each other, police said. One occurred at 5:41 p.m. in the 300 block of West 29th Place, and another happened at 6:50 p.m. in the 300 block of West 30th Place.

In one case, the suspect was described as a male about 5-foot-3 and 180 pounds, police said. In another case, a man 22- to 28-years-old standing 5-foot-5 and weighing 180. The suspect in a third case was described as a man 38- to 42-years-old, 5-foot-10 and 220 pounds.

A 2004 GMC Envoy station wagon was seen in the thefts on 29th and 30th Place, police said. It had an Illinois license plate reading “A469209.” In the theft on Emerald, a black utility vehicle was seen.

Anyone with information about the thefts is asked to contact Area Central detectives at 312-747-8382.
