Bridge Street incident: Man rushed to hospital in critical condition after Tradeston disturbance

A man is in critical condition in hospital following a disturbance on Bridge Street last night.

Emergency services rushed to the scene outside the former Sou' Wester Tavern pub in the Tradeston area of Glasgow at around 7.15pm.

The 46-year-old, who sustained serious injuries, was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital were he remains.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told Glasgow Live : "Around 7.15pm police received a report a disturbance in Bridge Street (near the Sou’ Wester Tavern). 

"A 46-year old man sustained serious injuries in the incident and was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where, medical staff describe his condition as critical.  Enquiries are ongoing."

Glasgow City Council's Traffic Control and Management team (TRAFFCOM) confirmed last night that the street had been closed from the Glasgow Bridge junction with Clyde Street/Broomielaw south to Nelson Street/Norfolk Street. Kingston Street was also closed between Commerce Street and Bridge Street.

The council has confirmed that the roads have reopened this morning, however, there "remains a significant police presence around Tradeston area and some areas remain cordoned" by police tape.
