
Visitors take in a view of cherry blossoms in full bloom at Hirosaki Park in Hirosaki, Aomori Prefecture, on Monday. Renowned as one of the nation's most beautiful spots for cherry blossoms, the park has about 2,600 cherry trees of 52 varieties. This year marks the 100th anniversary of an annual cherry blossom viewing event held at the park. The peak blooming period of the Someiyoshino variety is expected to end before the holiday period starting this weekend, but after that people can enjoy the scene of pink petals floating on the outer moat of Hirosaki Castle.
