A thrifty bridesmaid has divided opinions as she decided to drastically alter her dress two days before her pal's wedding day. The woman described the original frock as 'ugly' and 'frumpy' and decided to take matters into her own hands by completely deconstructing the dress and re-designing it. Some people have accused the bridesmaid of upstaging the bride, while others have gushed over the transformation.
Taking to TikTok to reveal the process, Brittney Rae, who posts under the handle @ brittneyraetoday, shared a clip of herself wearing the original frock - a long emerald velvet number with puff sleeves, a deep neckline and tie at the waist.

Posing in the frock that she strongly dislikes, she wrote on the clip: "Transforming my frumpy dress two days before the wedding this weekend..."
The fashion-conscious woman sketched up some designs in to reimagine her vision for the dress, before getting to work by cutting the fabric and re-sewing it.
"I had to completely deconstruct it first. I was a little stressed," she explained, while showing a clip of the cut up fabric as she got to work with the scissors.
All too aware that the stakes were high, she added: "If I mess up I have nothing to wear and the bride will KILL ME".
After stitching it all back together using a sewing machine, Brittney shared the final result. The newly designed dress boasts short sleeves and a higher hem, transforming it from a floor-sweeping gown to a shorter frock.
The transformation sparked serious debate on TikTok, as many people criticised the woman for altering the dress so heavily, while others loved the final result.
One person seethed: "Imagine thinking you're the main character at someone's wedding ".
While another added: "The finished product looks great but it kind of messed up the uniform look of her bridesmaids. Wasn’t her choice to make".
Others admitted that they preferred the original, with one TikToker commenting: "But the OG dress was gorgeous too….not frumpy".
Meanwhile, other people defended the Brittney's decision to alter the dress, arguing that they'd want their bridesmaids to feel their best on their wedding day.
One person said: "The after is better. The comments are filled with women who want their bridesmaids to look bad because they’re insecure. And that’s facts".
Another penned: "Beautiful! No bride wants their bridesmaids to look frumpy in the pictures. You did a great job".
