Bride-to-be urged to burn 'trainwreck' wedding dress which looks 'awful' on her

Finding the perfect wedding dress is an exciting but difficult task, and many brides-to-be will spend months searching the rails.

But some still struggle to make a decision so rely on their family and bridesmaids to help them make a decision.

One woman decided to enlist the help of complete strangers on a wedding Facebook page - but the response was far from positive.

She shared two photos of her dress to ask people if they thought she should get an inlay on the middle part of her dress covering her stomach.

But people were quick to share their dislike for the dress, labelling it "unflattering" and a "trainwreck" and even telling her she should burn it, reports Mail Online .

The woman wrote: "Is anyone selling wedding shoes size 8.5 or know of a place that sells them cheap that will look good with my dress?

"Also opinions on the middle of my dress. Do I put an inlay in or leave it as it is (see through)..."

Before long she was inundated with negative comments.

One wrote: "The only redeeming factor to me is the neckline but it looks like someone cut up six different dresses and stuck them together."

Many said the dress simply didn't fit her body shape.

There are a lot of comments on her post (Facebook)

One member commented: "This would only ever be flattering on someone six foot tall with the body of Elle Macpherson."

Another woman wrote: "You have to be extremely thin and tall for those dresses to work and even then it's a gamble."

While another wrote: "It's not a bad dress. It just doesn't look good on her, plain and simple."

But others just hated the dress all together.

One wrote: "Don't agree with this dress for anyone."

Another commented: "That dress looks like a fish."
