Bride-to-be launches urgent search for 'unusual' engagement ring lost on Edinburgh Princes Street

A bride-to-be has issued a message for help from Edinburgh locals after she lost her engagement ring in the centre of the capital.

Franziska Rath lost the ring of 'immense emotional value' between Queensferry Street station and the end of Princes Street last Saturday 1 August 2020.

Franziska told Edinburgh Live that she and her fiancé do not live together and her husband-to-be proposed to her in Rome in January to promise that they would start a life together soon.

The pair went to an independent jeweller in Fife - who had made her finance's grandparents' wedding rings - and chose one together.

She told Edinburgh Live : "We wanted to go back to Germany to celebrate with my family (where I'm originally from) but because of lockdown we weren't able to go.

"I'm finally able to see them in September to celebrate - and was meant to show them the ring - but I've lost it.

"Neither my fiancé or I are particularly wealthy so we won't be able to afford a new one anytime soon.

"I know it's probably impossible, but I wouldn't forgive myself if I didn't at least try."

If you happen to find Franziska Rath's ring please do hand it into your nearest police station. A link to her original Facebook post can be found here.
