VISAKHAPATNAM: The mystery over the suspicious death of bride M Srujana during the wedding ceremony at Madhurawada in Vizag city has finally been solved. The PM Palem police revealed that love affair was the reason for the suicide of the 22-year-old Srujana.
It may be recalled that the bride from Hyderabad, died under suspicious circumstances even as the wedding ceremony was going on May 11. As the priest was guiding the groom to shower cumin and jaggery pieces on her head, the bride collapsed on the wedding platform. She was rushed to a private hospital, where she lost her final breath.
The police investigation has revealed that the bride consumed some poisonous substance and they came to conclusion that it was a case of suicide.
Speaking to TOI, Assistant Commissioner of Police (North), Ch Srinivasa Rao said that Srujana entered a relationship with a youngster T Mohan from Vizag city a few years ago and she wanted to marry him. Mohan wanted time for marriage as he wanted to settle in life.
However, Srujana’s marriage was fixed with Nagothi Shivaji of PM Palem in Vizag city and the marriage was slated on May 11. Days before the marriage, the bride asked her boyfriend to take her somewhere. But he refused and asked sometime. Srujana told her boyfriend that she would try to stop the marriage at any cost. To stop the marriage, she consumed some poisonous substance, she collapsed moments before the groom was to tie the nuptial knot and later, she died, the police added.
Though the bride’s brother Vinay told to media that her sister didn’t commit suicide as the marriage was fixed with her consent only, investigation has revealed that Srujana was forced into the marriage and love affair was the reason for the tragic death of Srujana, the police added.
The victim has deleted the WhatsApp and Instagram chat with her boyfriend before the marriage ceremony. We have been waiting for some more reports to reveal the exact name of the poisonous substance, which was consumed by the bride, the police added.
