Bride knits her own wedding dress on commute to work - and finishes it day before

A woman decided to make the most of her commute - by hand-knitting her own wedding dress over a nine-month period.

Esther Andrews, a designer, used her daily trips on New York City's subway to prepare her outfit for her big day.

She has now showcased the end result - which was finished just a day before the wedding - on her TikTok account.

A clip of her making the dress, posted a week ago, has been viewed more than 640,000 times to date.

The outfit was designed with layers of ruffles, a tiered skirt, long sleeves and a V neckline.

Writing on the video, Andrews said: "The inspiration was a space pirate meets a tomato patch - because it was just silly and fun.

"It totalled over four miles of mohair lace yarn."

"When it came time to sew together I was scared because I could only trust that it would fit - no time to go back," she added.

"Thankfully it was ok so I could add the little tomatoes!"

The wedding dress wasn't the only attire Andrews made for the big day.

She also made the groom's outfit, which looked like an astronaut suit.

She added: "I will always cherish this dress and the time that went into making it."

Andrews posts from @estherandrewsbridal, where commenters were full of praise for her work.
