A woman who wore her wedding dress to her sister-in-law's ceremony has been accused of 'ruining' her big day.
When the anonymous woman got married four years ago, she had a tiny ceremony with only close family in attendance.
"The dress I wore wasn't white, wasn’t a gown, and isn’t at all recognizable as a traditional wedding dress" she explained.
Instead it was a navy, knee-length A-line dress, which she admitted she wears "at least a few times a year to events like other weddings or graduations or parties."
So when her sister-in-law's ceremony came around, it made sense to wear it.
Until the bride recognised the dress, had a "meltdown", and accused her of trying to "upstage" her.
In the heat of the moment, she also told everyone: "I purposely wore my wedding dress to ruin her day."
She said: "Lots of people look confused because again, my dress doesn’t look like a wedding dress.
"My mother-in-law is insisting I apologise for ruining the wedding.
"My husband says he supports me in, however, I want to handle this but that apologizing would probably make things blow over faster."
She concluded her post by asking users whether they thought she was in the wrong, but the majority of them were on her side.
One person said: "I assume your sister-in-law was at your wedding and would recognize your wedding dress.
"Since it's a non traditional dress, I totally get why you wanted to wear it to another special occasion.
"I just think you're the a****** for not giving your sister-in-law a heads up about it."
And another thought: "You were careless with someone else's big day and it looks bad. So even if I don't think it's the end of the world, it was socially insensitive."
But many others came to her defence, and said that the bride was overreacting because she'd worn the dress to a number of other special occasions, not just hers.
One wrote: "If the dress wasn't white, wasn't a gown, and wouldn't have been recognized as a wedding dress, then it just seems to me like sister-in-law decided to create drama out of nothing."
Another said: "I think given that it’s not even close to a wedding dress, and given that she wears it frequently, it’s no longer really a wedding dress in any way."
A third said: "I’m actually embarrassed for the bride acting like this."
