A bride was shot dead on her wedding day by a gang of masked gunmen as she left her wedding celebrations with her husband.
Police were called to the venue in Goult, in the Vaucluse department of Provence, France, after gunfire erupted at around 4.30am on Sunday, 22 June.
Witnesses said a group of four hooded gunmen opened fire on the newlyweds as they were leaving the party.
The bride was fatally shot, while one of the attackers was also killed — reportedly crushed by the couple’s car as they tried to escape.
Three others were injured in the shooting, including the groom, a woman, and a 13-year-old boy.
More than 100 police officers have been deployed to the area, with a major manhunt underway for the three remaining suspects.
According to Le Figaro, investigators from the Marseille gendarmerie’s research unit are examining whether the attack was linked to “a settling of scores”.
