While weddings are often a joyous occasion, the guest list has the potential to cause a sour divide amongst attendees. The attendance of particular individuals - or equally the lack of certain guests - can quickly spark a debate amongst those who are in disagreement.
Taking to popular forum Reddit, a bride-to-be was in utter disbelief as a pal took it upon themselves to invite their own guests to her wedding. In the spiteful text, the guest savagely 's**t shamed' the bride by commenting on her past relationship.
Captioning the post, the woman wrote: "Inviting your own guests with a side of s**t shaming."
The bride shared a screenshot of the text conversation - where she blanked out certain names for privacy.
The text from the wedding guest read: "Hey hun, when I mentioned to [blank] and [blank] that they are not invited to your wedding, they got upset.
"They actually want to be there for it, they said it is the only wedding that they actually want to go to.
"They have been waiting for this day, they have been through all your exes and are so happy to see you walk down the aisle.
"I will pay for them plus [blank] girlfriend. So I will pay for three of them hun. No big deal.
"A wedding is a great celebration and we all want to celebrate it with you. Xxx."
Since sharing, the woman's post has raked in over 100 comments to date.
Taking to the comment section, one shocked user wrote: "This person should be more concerned about keeping the invite they have."
"Right? Instant uninvite if it were my decision," a second agreed.
Meanwhile, a third questioned: "Been through all your exes. As if that's hard? An achievement? They just watched you live your life, no prizes given for that."
A fourth said: "Ew this is such an obnoxious text. I hope the person who sent it gets uninvited too. I hate the almost forceful nature of it."
