Bride fumes as maid of honour refuses to see her day before wedding - but for good reason

It's quite unusual to share the same birthday as your closest pal, but it's even more rare to share it with them as well as your partner. One bride-to-be has the same birth date as her maid of honour and soon-to-be husband, which should make party planning easier in theory.

However, the bride decided to get married the day after the trio's birthday, and was left devastated that her maid of honour didn't spend the birthday with her ahead of the wedding - causing some controversy.

When the woman found out from the maid of honour's husband that she would be unable to spend the day with her as he had booked a romantic surprise for her, the bride was far from impressed.

Taking to Reddit, the bride explained she wanted her maid of honour there so they could spend it together getting ready.

In the post, the woman, who remained anonymous, explained: "My maid of honour has the same birthday as us. I also asked that she share a hotel room with me the night before, so she can be there for me the moment I wake up, to support and calm me.

"She agreed to stay in the hotel with me but was a bit vague about agreeing to lunch, as she said she didn't know if she would have plans."

She went onto explain that the maid of honour's husband then contacted her to say that he had prepared a romantic day out for the maid of honour's birthday and she would not be there during the day before the wedding.

She wrote: "He's organised a romantic day out for her birthday, ending with a concert. He told me that it was going to be a surprise for her, so he was letting me know in advance so that I could plan for her absence the day before the wedding.

"I told him it was inconsiderate of him to book something for her the day before my wedding when he knew she had responsibilities."

The bride went to speak to another bridesmaid about the situation who said she should definitely let the maid of honour spend the day with her husband.

"I told my bridesmaid I was annoyed that he hadn't even asked me if I could spare my maid of honour, he had just told me she wasn't going to be available.

"I also told her that he hadn't even offered me his concert ticket, so that my maid of honour and I could have a fun evening together the day before my wedding."

In response, many have said the bride is acting very unreasonably and she should let her maid of honour go for the day.

One person wrote: "Seems to me like you've been taking advantage of a kind friend. Let your maid of honour enjoy her birthday."

While another wrote: "Your wedding is super special for you. You aren't entitled to dictate what your maid of honour does on her birthday."
