Bridal boutique plans stock expansion after move to new store

A wedding dress boutique owner has set out plans to expand the range of clothing her firm offers after moving to a new shop in a Nottinghamshire village.

Shade Bridal Boutique launched in 2011 from premises in Melton Road, West Bridgford, but has now moved to Ruddington in a bid to entice more shoppers.

Emma Castle took over the ownership of the boutique at the end of last year and explained the decision was made to move to the new store in Easthorpe Street in a bid to be more visible to passing customers.

She said: "The building it used to be in was a first floor retail unit and it was quite difficult to get people to really notice it was there.

"When we decided we were going to look and see what was available, the place in Ruddington just seemed perfect.

"I was a little bit worried because we had a new location, a new owner and a rebrand as well.

"I was concerned I would notice a little hiccup in trade coming through the door but it hasn't made a difference. we have been really busy. People seem to embrace the fact it has got a new look - it's been good."

Currently, the boutique focuses solely on brides and their wedding dresses.

But Miss Castle now plans to expand on this to cater for bridesmaids as well, while providing the same service the company has become known for.

She added: "It seems to be going well for us, which is why we are expanding into doing bridesmaid dresses. We are a niche boutique and we pride ourselves on giving a personal experience to the bride.

"We like to really get to know the bride - we look after them right up until they come and pick up the dress."

The move to Ruddington was facilitated by commercial property firm NG Chartered Surveyors, with a five-year lease being signed on the venue.

Suzannah Adcock, who brokered the deal on behalf of NG, said: "Ruddington is fast-becoming the place to be for rural independent retailers and I'm delighted to be involved right at the beginning of another success story.

"Emma has recently taken over the business from the previous owner who ran the the business on Melton Road in West Bridgford.

"The new venue looks fantastic; Emma has redecorated the property to create a modern bridal boutique and is now selling new, high quality designer bridalwear."
