Bricks were thrown at police following an incident between youths from Tiger's Bay and New Lodge that left local residents "frightened".
Police received reports at around 9.15pm on Friday, August 27, that groups had gathered in the North Queen Street area of North Belfast.
Upon arrival a number of bricks were thrown at officers before the crowd left the area.
SDLP councillor Paul McCusker said that local residents were "frightened" by the incident and praised community workers for their response.
He said: "Aware of issues on North Queen Street tonight involving young people from NewLodge & Tigers Bay, residents frightened. There is absolutely no need for this and everyone is just tired of it now, thanks to staff from NLYC on the ground. PSNI made aware."
Police have said that there were no reports of any injuries during the disturbance.
A PSNI spokesperson said: "At approximately 9.15pm last night, Friday, 27 August, police received a report of persons having gathered in the North Queen Street area of Belfast.
"On arrival of police a number of bricks were thrown, however the crowd dispersed from the area.
"There were no reports of any injuries."
