Brick thrown at First Cymru bus taking passengers through Swansea

A Swansea bus was taken out of service after a brick was thrown to it while travelling, smashing a window.

The item was hurled at the First Cymru number 12 service while it was travelling through Townhill in Swansea on the evening of Tuesday, January 21, close to Our Lady of Lordes church.

One passenger on the bus described how the item narrowly missed him.

The Townhill resident, who asked not to be named, said: “We were coming up from the Quadrant and we got to Our Lady of Lourdes, and I was about to get off the bus as it came to the roundabout.

“Out of nowhere, one of the side windows smashed near the front, close to where there is space for pushchairs and wheelchairs.

“Fortunately, there were only a couple of people on the bus, but I was shocked. It is unbelievable someone could be so stupid.

“The driver had to stop the bus because it couldn’t go on.

“I was lucky, because it was just inches away from me, but it could so easily have hit a child or an elderly person sitting there, and that angers me."

“It happened at around 8.20pm on Tuesday night, January 21, on Pen y Graig Road, near Our Lady of Lourdes church in the Townhill area of Swansea.

“Anyone with any information concerning this matter is asked to contact South Wales Police on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 and quote reference *0025153”.

First Cymru has been contacted by WalesOnline for a response.
