Bribie Island manhunt ends with two men charges over woman's shooting

Officers were called to a property in Kelliher Street in Rothwell after a woman was shot.

Two men charged in relation to the shooting of a woman and a lengthy manhunt north of Brisbane yesterday have had their cases mentioned in court.

Dylan Harvey, 27, faced charges at Cleveland Magistrates Court after turning himself in to police yesterday.

He was charged with grievous bodily harm and weapons offences.

His matter was adjourned to the Redcliffe Magistrates Court on October 30.

The search for Harvey and another 27-year-old began yesterday morning after a woman with "a serious gunshot wound" was left at a house in Rothwell near Redcliffe.

The woman is in a serious condition after undergoing emergency surgery at the Royal Women's and Brisbane Hospital.

The alleged wounding prompted police to track a car to Bribie Island, before they implemented an emergency declaration in a bid to search for the pair.

Police tracked a car to Bribie Island where they searched for Mr Harvey and Nathan Newcomb, 27, who was arrested yesterday afternoon.

Mr Newcomb had his matter mentioned in the Redcliffe Magistrates Court and was adjourned until October 30.

Detective Inspector Robert Hytch said the injured woman had arrived at a home in Rothwell, near Deception Bay, where an ambulance was called.

"The woman was taken there and delivered to other family members so that they [could] call the ambulance," he said.

Specialist police and dog squads were called in to assist with the search yesterday.

Local residents had reported seeing a distressed man asking for water yesterday but he ran away before he could receive help.
