Vigils have been held in a number of UK cities to mourn the loss of 16 year-old Brianna Ghey.
Crowds gathered in Liverpool and Bristol on Tuesday night to pay tribute to Brianna, who was stabbed to death in a park at the weekend.
The vigils were held as Cheshire Police said it was exploring all lines of inquiry following the teenager’s killing, including whether it was a hate crime.
The transgender teenager was found by members of the public at Linear Park in Culcheth, Warrington at around 3pm on 11 February.
Previously police investigating her death had said there was no evidence to suggest her death was “hate related”.
But on Tuesday the force appeared to change its position, confirming that it was an avenue of inquiry.
Further vigils are expected to be held in Manchester, Glasgow, Leeds, Reading, Plymouth, Brighton, Belfast, London and York in the coming days.
Meanwhile, a GoFundMe appeal raising money for the teenager’s grieving family has already raised more than £70,000.
