Brian Urlacher will miss Bears100 celebration due to illness

The biggest gathering of Chicago Bears fans and players, past and present, will be without one of its best players.

Brian Urlacher will not appear at the Bears100 Celebration in Rosemont this weekend, citing an illness as his reason for pulling out.

Urlacher was scheduled to participate in Friday’s opening night ceremony, as well as highlight one of the weekend’s most-anticipated panels featuring three Hall of Fame linebackers in Dick Butkus, Mike Singletary and Urlacher.

“To have the three Hall of Fame middle linebackers together sharing the stage and telling stories, that’s awesome,” Scott Hagel, Bears senior vice president for marketing and communications, said last week.

There’s no word if anyone will replace Urlacher on that panel.
