Brian Rice hailed his side's best display of the season despite falling two points adrift at the foot of the Premiership table.
The Accies boss insists a win was the least they deserved after going down 1-0 to Dundee United and he's convinced the spirit shown offers hope of survival.
He said: "I can’t believe we didn’t win, never mind drawing. With the amount of chances and way we played, that’s the best we’ve played this season by a long way.
"I thought the goal was coming when you’ve got that amount of possession and you’re playing as well as we were. You expect one to go in.
"We made a mistake the other end and Dundee United did a job on us. But I can’t be any more proud than I am today, it was a great response.
"No fear. I keep saying that about the young ones Kyle Munro was outstanding, no fear at all. I’m disappointed and I’m gutted about the result because of the effort they put in. They knew how big the game was so not to take anything from it is hard to take. I’ll be a while taking the positives from it because there were so many. We need to make sure we don’t get too down about it because we have a big derby (against Motherwell ) coming next and if we take that performance we’ll give ourselves a chance.
"The boys who are out are out? We’ve got to concentrate on the ones who are available. I changed it about and made some tweaks but I couldn’t have asked anymore.
"I’m a great believer if you keep doing the right things it’ll change. Keep believing and listening. It comes down to hard work. The wind’s not always in your face, as my dad used to say."
