Brian O'Driscoll's firm records big rise in income as accumulated profits hit €7.2m

The main firm owned by rugby legend, Brian O’Driscoll last year recorded a 16.5% increase in post tax profits to €694,791.

New accounts filed by O’Driscoll’s ODM & Promotions Ltd show that at the end of August last, the company’s accumulated profits totalled €7.245m after another strong year for the firm.

The profits of €694,791 last year followed profits of €596,006 in 2018 and profits of €810,236 in 2017 as the Clontarf man’s fortunes continue to flourish away from the playing field.

The company recorded an increase in profits last year in spite of directors’ pay climbing from zero in 2018 to €265,008 last year.

In a busy year for the company, the company purchased a property that had a book value of €929,006 at the end of August last.

This resulted in the value of the company’s tangible assets increasing from €98,468 to €1m.

The spend on the property contributed to the company’s cash pile reducing from €2.82m to €2.29m.

The value of the company’s financial assets increased from €2.95m to €3.1m and the assets include listed investments valued at €2.24m.

The assets also include a "participating interest" valued at €679,906 that relates to a 33% investment in a New York firm, White Walker LLC.

The management company generates income from the likes of O’Driscoll’s corporate speaking and rugby punditry.

O’Driscoll is one half of Ireland’s unofficial ‘Golden Couple’ and separate accounts show that the cash pile at O’Driscoll’s wife, actor and screen-writer, Amy Huberman’s firm last year jumped from €481,168 to €550,156.

New accounts for ASM Entertainment show the company recorded profits of €99,525 in the 12 months to the end of August last that followed profits of €169,109 in 2018.

At the end of August last, the company’s accumulated profits totalled €649,207.

O’Driscoll ended his decorated playing career with Ireland and Leinster in 2014 and the ODM & Promotions Ltd’s only other director is O’Driscoll’s father, Frank who has helped guide his son’s career off the pitch to great effect.

O’Driscoll, then aged 22, established the ODM firm in 2001 as part of his bid to capitalise on being the most marketable Irish player of the modern rugby era.
