Brian Lohan hits out at unnamed "biased" RTE pundits that "let themselves down" after Kilkenny defeat

Brian Lohan hit out at unnamed pundits and analysts following Clare's All-Ireland semi-final defeat to Kilkenny on Sunday.

The Clare manager claimed some pundits are "biased" and "let themselves down" as he spoke to RTE after the final whistle at Croke Park.

He said: "There's always ifs and buts when you lose a close game like that so I'm sure the experts that you have will tell us exactly how it's done.

"I think the referee didn't have his best game today but it's for other people to comment on that now."

When asked if he was frustrated with some of the coverage and analysis of his team over the past few seasons, Lohan responded: "I am, yeah. We get a hard time for some reason and I just can't explain it.

"Everyone has their jobs to do but I think there are some people that could have a bit more integrity about the way that they do their job and unfortunately for some people, the minority, but the majority of pundits are fair and are good people.

"Some of them don't do themselves justice in the way that they analyse."

He added: "After the Munster final (in 2022), we were very disappointed with the performance of the Sunday Game, really, really disappointed. Really disappointed with the analysis and what I would describe as biased analysis last year and two of our players suspended as a result of that.

"It's an area that I think the GAA should look at and I think it's an area that RTE themselves need to look at. That's the biggest coverage that is there and there is responsibility there.

"I think there's a responsibility to treat every player fairly and I don't think some of the analysts treat every player fairly so they do let themselves down and I think it is an area that the GAA should look at."
