Brian Laudrup in Rangers mentality claim as he warns current side what is needed to stop Celtic

Rangers icon Brian Laudrup has called upon the current side to prepare for an experience unlike any other as they bid to end Celtic 's 10 In A Row dream.

The Hoops are just one title away from history and the Danish winger knows only too well the pressure involved in trying to rewrite the history books.

Celtic denied Rangers' glory bid back in 1998 and Laudrup is adamant mental strength is needed now more than ever from Steven Gerrard 's side if they are to wrestle back control.

The Ibrox boss cut a dejected figure before lockdown as his side trailed their rivals by 13 points and finished second best again when the season was called last week.

But Laudrup insists there's no time to dwell on the past as wants the current side to produce something special.

Speaking to the Sunday Post, he said: “Of course, we all know how important the next 12 months is going to be and it will be very intense.

“A strong mentality will be required, as well as the ability to win games every week.

“We tried our very best to win the Premier League again the following season for 10 In A Row, but just came up short.

“It was very frustrating and disappointing for everyone at the club and the Rangers fans."

And Laudrup admits he fully understands everyone's desire for the beautiful game to return imminently but he is urging patience amid the global pandemic.

However the legendary winger is certain the thrills and spills of Scottish football will return in style once the Premiership action is back up and running.

He added: “Scottish football wants to get back as quickly as possible. I understand that.

“But right now there are still important questions to be answered.

“It will take time but it will come back again. Everybody just needs to show patience and understanding.

“I don’t live in Scotland anymore, obviously, but I’m looking forward to it all starting again.

“With Celtic going for 10 In A Row, and Rangers trying to stop them, it’s going to be an exciting time.”
