Rangers icon Brian Laudrup believes early season upheaval is behind the Ibrox side's mixed start to the new campaign.
Steven Gerrard 's side have navigated their way to the Premiership summit but the manager knows full well his side have yet to hit the heights of last season.
That was illustrated in their uneven 1-1 draw with Motherwell where they created a slew of chances before Kaiyne Woolery's strike secured a shock draw for the Steelmen.
The Danish wing king remains a keen Ibrox observer and he couldn't help but notice an exchange between James Tavernier and Connor Goldson.
But Laudrup is certain Gerrard and Rangers will get things right once key players return as he talked up Fashion Sakala's impact.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, he said: "It's always a difficult thing to explain when a successful team loses a little bit of its edge. Every player who wears a Rangers jersey is hungry for success. But you can go through stages in a season when mistakes are highlighted, little things are not right and the gaps in the team become too big.
"That was definitely what happened with Motherwell's goal, which was very poor from a Rangers perspective. Borna Barisic should certainly have been closer and given himself a chance to block the shot. He was a yard or two off it. There was another sequence in the second half that also caught my eye. James Tavernier couldn't get a forward pass, so he turned and gave a poor ball to Connor Goldson, who ended up conceding a corner.
"I saw Goldson's furious reaction. As an incident, it wasn't consequential to the outcome of the match, but it still seemed to encapsulate some of the issues affecting leading players.
"And putting it right is a challenge. These players were magnificent last season and didn't become vulnerable overnight.
"The upheaval in team selections doesn't help, with Filip Helander, Ryan Kent, Ianis Hagi and Alfredo Morelos all out of the starting lineup on Sunday. In those circumstances, you're looking for other people to impose their personalities. Fashion Sakala was very bright in the first half and I believe he will be a good addition. But it can't just be about one new signing energising everyone else."
