Cricket legend Brian Lara has been rushed to hospital in Mumbai after suffering from chest pains.
The former West Indies player had complained of feeling discomfort before he was taken to Global Hospital in Parel, Mumbai, according to reports.
The 50-year-old has been covering the Cricket World Cup as part of the Sky Sports broadcast team in India.
No further details of Lara’s condition have been released at this stage, but a statement is expected in due course.
According to reports, Lara was taken to hospital at 8am (local time) on Tuesday.
Lara posted more than 11,000 Test runs during a playing career spanning 17 years from 1990.
He also holds the record for the highest individual score in first-class cricket after posting a mammoth 501* in a county game for Warwickshire against Durham in 1994.
Lara briefly came out of retirement in 2010 when he played the T20 format for Zimbabwean side Southern Rocks.
