Brian Kennedy shares uplifting message as he's 'officially' cancer free

Brian Kennedy has shared his joy over being given the all clear from cancer.

The Northern Irish singer battled with the disease for the past three years, and earlier this year he finished treatment and was on the mend.

But today in a heartwarming post on Instagram, Brian revealed that he has officially been given the all clear, RSVP Live reports.

He told his social media followers: "So thrilled and relieved to share the news that my recent Follow up Scan is officially declared ALL CLEAR Today.

"Just before I head to USA this week for some singing... the future looks bright from here. Thanks everyone for your kind careful support. [sic.] Youse are stuck with me for another few decades at least!

"Feeling very, very, very relieved and lucky and thinking of those who were and are NOT so fortunate."

It had been a challenging and difficult three years for Brian , but he always remained positive. The former Voice of Ireland coach opened up about his diagnosis in a harrowing interview on Today FM back in 2016.

"What I have is called rectal cancer. I said to my doctor ‘could I get a more embarrassing version of this disease - cancer in my bum, really?’ but at the same time he immediately pointed out that there are a lot of worse places to get this disease," Brian explained to Matt Cooper.

"If I can be frank for purposes of clarity, last year I had some blood downstairs as I was going to the loo and a year ago that was just piles, I’m nearly 50 and things are changing, my doctor diagnosed that immediately.

"I did a course of pessaries and things and gone, absolutely clear and gone, all good."

Since then, Brian continued to speak candidly about his treatments with his fans and followers. He previously compared it all to suffering from jetlag and he was bed bound due to tiredness.

"The first week it’s like very heavy jetlag. One minute your kind of OK and the next you are very wobbly; I was going to bed in the afternoon, and going to bed much earlier at night but that was because I had chemo and radiation; they need those two to work in tandem for the first week. The last two weeks I’ve just been having radiation every day, takes about 10 minutes - you do not feel a thing," he said at the time.

We're so thrilled for Brian and are wishing him continued health for the future!
