Brian Gartland becomes latest player to sign new deal with Dundalk

Brian Gartland is the latest player to sign a new deal with Dundalk who are also linked with Latvian international Raivis Jurkovskis.

Club stalwart Gartland, 34, had been facing an uncertain future at Oriel Park midway through last season.

But the centre-back rallied under Filippo Giovagnoli when the Italian was appointed as Vinny Perth’s successor in August.

Gartland has been with Dundalk since 2013 and won five league titles, three FAI Cups and three EA Sports Cups in that time.

“I’m delighted to be back for another season,” he said. “When I first arrived here in 2013 I signed for three months and I said: ‘I’ll see how it goes!’

“The last nine years have been a rollercoaster, a really amazing time, and a massive, happy chunk of my life. I’ve loved it, so why not give it another spin.”

The FAI Cup holders have today been linked with Latvian international midfielder Jurkovskis - capped 12 times - who has been with FK Liepāja since 2017.
