Brian Flores: “We’ll rebuild this offensive line”

If you’re a fan of the trenches, Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores is singing the gospel today during his time with the media at the NFL’s league meetings.

In addition to talking about versatility along the line and it’s importance to any unit, Coach Flores conceded that this year plan of attack will have an emphasis on the trenches.

“The O-line, protection and run game, that’s near and dear to me…it’s something we’ll definitely invest in. We’ll rebuild this offensive line.”

The trenches can be pointed to as a source of blame for much of the Dolphins’ offensive failures for the past several seasons. Granted, former quarterback Ryan Tannehill deserves his share of blame in all of the sacks and negative plays, but generally speaking this offensive line has not been good enough for quite some time.

As a point of reference, the Dolphins have allowed 41.2 sacks per season in the last five years.

Flores and company hope to fix that going forward and their next chance to do so will come in a month at the 2019 NFL Draft.
