Brian Flores: Josh Rosen will need to earn the title “franchise QB”

Cameron Wolfe of ESPN put together a great piece detailing the thought process of the Miami Dolphins coaching staff in the aftermath of Miami’s big move — trading for Arizona Cardinals quarterback Josh Rosen. And one thing is for sure — the Dolphins aren’t going to give Rosen anything.

For fans who are concerned about Rosen’s ability to be the quarterback to take Miami back to the promised land, allow Brian Flores to serve as the voice of reason on the matter.

“You have to earn the right to get that kind of label,” said Flores when asked about Rosen and the label ‘franchise quarterback”. ” … to label a kid like that right off the bat, I feel like that’s unfair in a lot of ways. You have to earn it.”

Brian Flores made it quite clear that the Dolphins are expecting Josh Rosen and Ryan Fitzpatrick to compete with one another to serve as the Miami Dolphins’ starting quarterback. As they should. Miami looks to push this team to the next level and really use competitive spirit as a vehicle to create growth — the quarterback position should be no different.

Let the best man win between Rosen and Fitzpatrick. The expectation should be for Rosen to emerge victorious, as doing so would be the first step needed to earn the right to be considered Miami’s future at the position.
