Brian Cox says the royal family should be abolished after the Queen's death

Brian Cox has said he thinks the British royal family should be abolished after the Queen’s death to rid its “feudal hold on our culture”.

The Succession star, who plays media mogul Logan Roy in the hit dynasty drama, made the comments in a new interview with ES Magazine.

He said: "I think the Queen is an amazing woman, and what she has done is incredible.

"But when she’s gone, the whole bloody shooting match should go, I really think so.

"We won’t end this feudal hold on our culture and system until then."

Cox also discussed the treatment of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in the British press, saying: "They [some sections of the media] have forced Meghan and Harry to quit the country.

"Let’s not beat about the bush, they have driven them out, and yes, I have no doubt at all, some of it is racist.

"It's horrible what has happened to them."

Cox has previously made headlines for his comments on the royals, after claiming he was "touched up by Princess Margaret" as a young actor.
