Brian Cox 'refuses to accept' script changes made after his bed time on hit show Succession

Brian Cox refuses to accept last-minute script changes from writers on hit show Succession if they come in after his bedtime, one of his co-stars has revealed.

Kieran Culkin, who plays the son of Cox’s character Logan Roy in the series, said the Dundee -born star has told bosses he will not perform rewrites if they are sent to him after 10.30pm.

He said veteran actor Cox has spent six decades following the same strict routine of preparing for a scene the night before, which meant he was unaware of a new script during one rehearsal.

Succession follows media mogul Roy and his children as they fight for control of his empire, with much of the last season filmed in Scotland.

Culkin, who began his career as a child actor alongside his older brother Macaulay in the Home Alone franchise, plays Roman Roy.

Speaking on the WTF With Marc Maron podcast, he said: “It’s TV and there are so many rewrites.

“In the first season there was a rewrite that came in at three in the morning. Brian had a lot of dialogue.

“We did the rehearsal and Brian started doing the old version. One of the writers said, ‘Did you get the draft?’ Brian goes, ‘When did it come in?’ The writer said, ‘We sent it around three in the morning.’

“Brian was like, ‘If it’s after 10.30pm, I’m not doing it.’ So they don’t give him rewrites after 10.30pm.”
