Brian Cox 'cinematic' Edinburgh show rescheduled amid positive Covid test fears

Professor Brian Cox has postponed the Edinburgh leg of his 2021 tour delving into the history of the universe.

The presenter and physicist planned to bring Horizons: A 2021 Space Odyssey to the Capital’s Playhouse later this year, but the event has now been shelved amid Covid concerns.

Tour organisers took the decision in case a member of the production team test positive for Covid-19 or be required to self-isolate, so scuppering the rest of the tour.

The show, which promises a ‘cinematic journey’ through time and space, uses state of the art LED screens to transform arenas and theatres into swirling far away galaxies as the professor takes audience members through the theories and science behind the creation of the universe.

However, the 24-date tour has now been postponed until 2022, with the Edinburgh date rescheduled until September 1 next year.

Prof Cox said: “We understand this will be disappointing, but we look forward to seeing everyone in 2022,” he said.

“We’ve renamed the tour, Horizons: A 21st Century Space Odyssey. Hopefully that will cover it.”

Prof. Cox will be joined by comedian Robin Ince as part of a Q&A panel fielding questions from audience members on a wide range of topics.

Organisers said audience members unable to attend will be offered a full refund should they be unable to attend the event next year.

Tickets will remain vaild for that show.

They added: "We want to ensure all ticketholders can attend and therefore the full schedule of shows will go ahead on alternate dates next year, from 29th August-2nd October 2022.

"Any ticketholders unable to attend the newly scheduled date will be entitled to a full refund."
