He's closing in on an incredible dozen All-Ireland wins but Brian Cody’s no-nonsense, simple approach hasn’t changed in 20 years.
That’s the belief of Michael Fennelly who was a player for eight of those All-Irelands, captaining Kilkenny to the four-in-a-row in 2009.
Fennelly said: “Brian’s philosophy hasn’t changed one bit - it’s still all about work rate. There’ll be 15 battles in the final, if we can win 60 per cent of them then that will put us in a good position to win the game. That’s what it comes down to with Brian (above) and there’s nothing that really changes.

“I have no doubt in my mind that he hasn’t introduced any new tactics. Our half-forwards are still coming out, we did that years ago as well.
“Overall, you still have to win your own individual battles and then try to keep the defence as tight as possible and not let them get exposed. That’s what it comes down to with Brian.”
