Brian Callahan reaffirms Andy Dalton as starter after trade up for Ryan Finley

It’s official. Andy Dalton will remain the starting quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals. I know, you’re shocked.

The Bengals, who passed on Dwayne Haskins in the first round, secured a quarterback in the fourth round. However, OC Brian Callahan reaffirmed Andy Dalton will start, not a shocker for those following the organization.

That said, the fourth-round pick was North Carolina State quarterback Ryan Finley. The 6-foot-4 transferred to NC State after two years at Boise State. Finley threw 55 touchdowns and 25 interceptions during his three seasons at NC State.

Let’s just say Finley was a fourth-round pick for a reason.

The Bengals saw last year that they need at least a somewhat competent replacement for Dalton if he were to go down. Finley is that insurance policy, but he’s far from the team’s franchise quarterback.

All that to say, expect Dalton as the quarterback for Cincinnati in Week 1.
