Brian Burns has the highest PFF grade of any first-round EDGE so far

Going into the 2019 NFL draft, consensus was that Nick Bosa was by far the best edge prospect in his class. Josh Allen was considered a close second by many analysts.

There’s a whole career’s worth of games for these players to determine who really is the top first-round EDGE pick of the 2019 class. So far though, it’s been the Panthers’ No. 16 overall selection, Brian Burns. The former Florida State pass rusher dominated during the preseason and it’s carried over into the real games.

Through three weeks, Burn has the highest Pro Football Focus grade of any edge rusher taken in the first round.

Burns has already tallied two sacks, six quarterback hits and two tackles for a loss.

Next up, Burns will go up against a Texans offensive line that allowed Deshaun Watson to get sacked more than any other QB in the NFL (62 times) last season. Their starting left tackle Laremy Tunsil is also dealing with multiple injuries.
